The German Studies Department provides comprehensive undergraduate programs in German, starting with introductory classes for beginners and advancing to higher-level studies covering cultural, literary, and historical aspects of German-speaking regions.
The department also features Yiddish language and cultural studies, along with English-taught classes on German cinema, literature, and traditions. Beyond on-campus courses at Emory, the department partners with study abroad initiatives in Freiburg, Berlin, and Vienna, including an eight-week summer program in Vienna.
