The Disability Studies Certificate Program demonstrates how disability weaves into society's diverse fabric. It focuses on "universal access" - the principle that communities should welcome individuals of all backgrounds and characteristics, extending beyond conventional identity markers. Universal access (UA) advocates that inclusive societies don't merely adapt for minorities, but are fundamentally designed for everyone; regardless of majority/minority status or typical/atypical traits.
