The Post-BSN to DNP Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist program spans three years of full-time study. Graduates will emerge as DNP-qualified Clinical Nurse Specialists equipped to treat patients ranging from adolescents to elderly individuals in both hospital and community environments.
The program combines advanced theoretical coursework with hands-on clinical training, culminating in a DNP Practicum Scholarly Project. Upon completion, graduates qualify to take national certification exams for Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist practice and can pursue state licensure. The program requires up to six campus visits per semester for immersive training sessions featuring skills labs, simulations, and specialized seminars.
Students typically enroll in 2-4 courses each semester throughout the year to finish in three years, though a four-year part-time option (2-3 courses per semester) is available. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution (or meet Bridge requirements for RNs with non-nursing bachelor's degrees) and qualify for Michigan nursing licensure.
