Students who complete this program receive a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, qualifying them for roles as certified Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS). These professionals examine blood and bodily fluids to detect illnesses and track patient health. Following coursework in mathematics, sciences, and clinical lab studies, participants undertake a semester-long clinical internship. Graduates become eligible to take the BOC examination for MLS certification. These healthcare experts conduct various analyses including chemical, hematological, immunological, microscopic, bacteriological, and molecular testing on patient samples. While hospitals are the primary workplace for MLS professionals, opportunities also exist in medical practices, independent labs, public health organizations, pharmaceutical firms, and research institutions.
