The Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences equips future radiologic technologists with the skills to collaborate with medical professionals and patients, conducting diverse diagnostic imaging procedures in radiology departments. These specialists must master human anatomy, physiology, disease processes, radiographic techniques, radiation protection protocols, operation of various X-ray and digital imaging systems, patient care standards, and radiology department administration. This bachelor's program develops versatile imaging specialists for diagnostic teams, offering training with conventional X-ray machines, angiography systems, CT scanners, MRI equipment, interventional radiography tools, and mammography devices.
The curriculum is divided into two stages: Pre-Professional and Professional. The Pre-Professional segment focuses on fulfilling university general education requirements and program prerequisites. Successful completion qualifies students to apply for the Professional Phase, featuring 2,600 clinical hours at partner medical facilities. Due to limited annual availability at these clinical sites, accepted students must submit a separate application to the Radiologic Sciences Program Selection Committee by the second Friday in January through CSUN's Health Sciences department for internship placement consideration.
