The Bachelor of Fine Arts in K-12 Visual Art Education equips students with expertise in studio practice, artistic research, and visual arts instruction. This program aligns with both Michigan's Visual Arts Education standards and the National Art Education Association's Teacher Preparation guidelines. Aspiring K-12 art educators gain the ability to combine creative practice with art historical knowledge and pedagogical theory to develop engaging curriculum for students aged 5-18. Under the mentorship of seasoned art education faculty, teacher candidates practice implementing innovative lesson plans while mastering effective instructional and evaluation techniques. Certification enables graduates to teach art across all grade levels or pursue careers in museum education, arts administration, or advanced studies in art therapy. Financial Support: The School of Art & Design provides three dedicated scholarships for visual art education majors and covers professional conference fees through the Art Education Professional Development Fund.
