Working alongside the English Language and Literature department and the College of Education, the English Education program offers a Bachelor of Arts degree focused on cultivating thoughtful, well-informed literacy educators for today's diverse classrooms. This program emphasizes research-backed methods for teaching secondary students essential language skills including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and visual literacy. Students explore various literary, academic, and professional writing styles while learning effective teaching strategies, creating assessments, and gaining hands-on classroom experience. Opportunities include attending professional development events like EdCamp and Literacy for Life through the Eastern Michigan Writing Project.
