Those enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program for Children's and Young Adult Literature can engage with literary works in diverse formats. Participants select a specialization—whether literary criticism, publishing, or youth theater—to align with their professional aspirations or advanced studies. The Children's and Young Adult Literature Major offers three adaptable, cross-disciplinary tracks tailored to individual career paths, educational objectives, and personal ambitions. These specializations emphasize critical examination of youth literature, the publishing industry for young readers, and theatrical productions for younger audiences. Throughout each track, learners investigate various literary styles and classifications of youth-oriented texts. During their studies, majors can conduct academic research on youth literature, develop innovative multimedia projects and performances, and present their scholarly or creative endeavors at the Undergraduate Research Symposium. Additionally, students gain practical experience through service-learning initiatives, experiential coursework, and internships with publishers focused on children's and young adult books.
