The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides an adaptable graduate program culminating in a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in mathematical sciences. This program mandates a foundational requirement of 9-12 credits, with the remaining credits allowing students to focus on pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or applied statistics through elective coursework.
Students have the option to incorporate graduate-level studies from other quantitative fields into their curriculum. With guidance from a graduate advisor, up to half of a student's coursework can be drawn from disciplines like computer science, management science, physics, technology, or other mathematically intensive subjects.
Successful completion of the M.S. degree opens diverse career pathways tailored to each student's program focus. Graduates may find opportunities in corporate sectors, industrial research, government agencies, or pursue advanced teaching roles in secondary and postsecondary education.
