This specialization equips educators to work with students who have common disabilities such as learning disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and emotional/behavioral challenges. The program focuses on applying research-backed teaching methods in inclusive settings, partnering with mainstream educators to deliver tailored instruction through techniques like differentiation, support frameworks, and learning adjustments that help students engage with challenging academic material. It also covers targeted interventions for skill gaps in areas including literacy, numeracy, learning techniques, organizational abilities, and social-emotional development. Graduates of this high incidence track qualify for Tennessee teaching certification as K-8 or 6-12 intervention specialists.
