Pursuing a dual JD-MPH degree creates opportunities during your studies and career. You'll develop comprehensive knowledge of how law, health, and policy intersect from multiple perspectives, enhancing your appeal to legal practices, healthcare systems, insurers, and government bodies overseeing healthcare services. Healthcare challenges impact patients, practitioners, and policymakers differently. Those skilled in legal matters while appreciating these varied perspectives can offer superior advice to organizations and clients navigating this complex field.
The JD-MPH program combines coursework at both the Kline School of Law and Drexel's Dornsife School of Public Health, culminating in degrees from both institutions.
Participants begin with the standard first-year law curriculum before dedicating one academic year exclusively to MPH studies, which can follow either their first or second year of law school. Depending on their chosen study pace, candidates complete both degrees in 3.5 to 4 years, receiving both credentials concurrently.
The program features distinguished faculty from both schools - legal experts in healthcare organization, financing, patient advocacy, medical ethics, and safety from the Law School, alongside public health specialists in health equity, community health systems, and policy from Dornsife. Program leader Robert Field (JD, MPH, PhD) holds positions at both schools.
