The joint Public Health/Public Administration (MPA) degree is a collaborative initiative between UAB's School of Public Health and the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Participants in this dual-degree program obtain an MPH with a specialization in Population Health.
This customized track provides students with comprehensive public health training by fulfilling the MPH core requirements (grounded in the Evidence-based Public Health approach), completing both an Applied Practice Experience (Internship) and an Integrative Learning Experience (Capstone). Learners can choose from various master's-level Public Health courses (including maternal and child health, global health, and health policy) to create a tailored academic path aligned with their professional aspirations. Dedicated academic guidance helps students craft their personalized study plans. This combined degree equips graduates with both public health expertise and the administrative competencies needed for leadership roles in government agencies.
