Their research focuses on investigating and developing treatments for diverse human illnesses. Faculty members employ various model systems and experimental methods to uncover the root causes of diseases and create innovative treatment approaches. Researchers study neurodegenerative conditions and protein aggregation disorders including Alzheimer's and ALS, developmental conditions like Fragile X syndrome, autism, CHARGE syndrome and Pitt-Hopkins, various cancers, spinal cord injuries, and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Biology faculty partner with clinical and basic science researchers from Drexel College of Medicine, emphasizing translational research that bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical applications.

The PhD program is open to applicants holding either a bachelors or a masters degree
Acceptance for graduate study at Drexel University requires a fouryear bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or an equivalent international institution Although requirements vary by program regular admission typically requires a minimum cumulative grade point average of 30 B for undergraduate work The average for any graduate work must be at least 3.0 Applicants for postmasters status must show potential for further study by having maintained at least a 30 average in their masterslevel studies Individual departmental requirements may exceed this minimum
