The Creative Arts Therapies PhD is a research-intensive program offered by Drexel University's Department of Creative Arts Therapies, part of the College of Nursing & Health Professions in Philadelphia, PA. As a globally recognized research institution, Drexel fosters a department committed to delivering outstanding, forward-thinking education that develops ethically aware, clinically skilled, critically thinking practitioners and scholars who respond thoughtfully to social and cultural needs.
This doctoral program in Creative Arts Therapies is designed to train future research leaders in the field. Through fostering an environment that promotes both rigorous and inventive research, we aim to develop scholars who will expand knowledge, enhance theory and clinical methods, pioneer innovations, and contribute to the advancement of creative arts therapies - ultimately benefiting society's mental, physical, and social wellbeing.
As one of four graduate programs in the Department of Creative Arts Therapies, the PhD exists alongside Master of Arts degrees in Art Therapy and Counseling, Music Therapy and Counseling, and Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling. Doctoral candidates can engage with these MA programs through teaching, supervision, and advising on thesis and final projects. Being housed within the College of Nursing and Health Professions creates abundant opportunities for students and faculty to pursue interdisciplinary learning and research collaborations.
