The Biomedical Science PhD program trains students with backgrounds in fundamental life sciences (such as biology or biochemistry) in quantitative methods, computational modeling, essential programming techniques, and data science. Participants gain specialized expertise in modeling biological systems and processing biomedical data with visualization.
To earn the doctorate, candidates must complete 90 credit hours (including applicable master's degree credits), satisfy a one-year residency obligation, and pass three key milestones: the qualifying exam, candidacy assessment, and final dissertation defense with oral presentation. Future PhD applicants are encouraged to reach out to explore alignment between their research goals and program offerings.
