The Bachelor of Science in Engineering program is an interdisciplinary major designed for students not pursuing traditional engineering careers. This program enables students to merge a comprehensive engineering education from the College of Engineering with studies in diverse fields outside engineering, including law, medicine, business, entrepreneurship, education, international studies, public policy, music, art, environmental studies, and others. It establishes a solid foundation in engineering principles, quantitative abilities, and the analytical methods engineers apply in technology design.
Drexel's Bachelor of Science in Engineering major was created to offer educational and professional opportunities not found in conventional engineering curricula.
Program Goals
The primary aims of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering program are to equip students with:
A robust background in science and mathematics
An understanding of engineering fundamentals as a discipline
Substantial expertise in a secondary area of focus (which could be technical, pre-professional, cultural, global, or another field determined by the student and advisor)
A capstone experience that integrates technical and secondary studies. Potential examples include research initiatives, design projects, public service engagements, among others.
