The Department of Criminology and Justice Studies delivers a comprehensive academic program focused on justice principles and criminological theories, while bridging these concepts with real-world applications. Drexel's Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Justice Studies degree centers on Criminal Justice—our curriculum equips students with core disciplinary knowledge and practical skills, while offering opportunities to focus on specific interest areas.
The Justice Studies specialization starts from the core principle that criminal behavior and related policies often intertwine with social, economic, health, and environmental factors that reach beyond conventional justice systems. This concentration acknowledges that policies affecting housing, healthcare, and the environment inherently influence crime rates. While other program tracks primarily examine criminal behavior and analysis, Justice Studies takes a broader approach by examining equity, justice, and legal protections across various sectors, populations, and locations—many of which relate to, though aren't exclusively about, criminal activity.
