The Criminal Justice concentration, offered through the Department of Criminology and Justice Studies, provides the most adaptable option among our three program tracks. This concentration emphasizes the study of criminal justice systems while maintaining core requirements in research methods and Geographic Information Systems, just like the other specialized tracks. Ideal for students pursuing dual majors, law school preparation, multiple minors (such as languages combined with legal studies), or those wanting a conventional criminal justice foundation, this track stands out for its flexibility. With 46.0 credits available for electives, students can easily explore diverse academic offerings across Drexel University. Many Criminal Justice concentrators pair their studies with majors in Psychology, Behavioral Health, Legal Studies, Business, or Global Studies, frequently complementing these with language minors. While this track doesn't mandate as many analytical courses as the Crime Science and Analysis concentration, students can still incorporate these into their electives while following other academic interests.
Like its counterparts, the Criminal Justice concentration includes community-based learning and global perspective courses. All students in these programs are urged to join at least one faculty-led international study program focusing on justice-related topics. Past destinations have included explorations of Nazi policing history in Munich and Prague, as well as examinations of Scandinavian crime and justice systems. Visit the Study Abroad Program website for details on upcoming locations and schedules. This focus on international justice comparisons and overseas study opportunities reflects Drexel's commitment to fostering global citizenship among its students.
