Africana Studies is a multidisciplinary program providing comprehensive exploration of Africa's and the African Diaspora's historical, cultural, political, and socioeconomic dimensions. Learners gain comparative insights to comprehend the intricate connections, migrations, and exchanges between African communities, their diverse geographical and cultural contexts, and their interactions with European, Asian, Native American, and African-descended populations. The curriculum equips students with analytical tools from history, politics, ethnography, arts, and literature across humanities, social sciences, and fine arts disciplines.
Recently enhanced, Drew University's Africana Studies major enables interdisciplinary examination of Africa's and its diaspora's historical development, cultural expressions, political systems, and socioeconomic frameworks. Students will acquire skills in applying varied analytical approaches from historical, political, ethnographic, artistic, and literary perspectives within humanities, social sciences, and arts disciplines.
