The graduate jazz studies curriculum offers students an in-depth musical education with concentrations in performance or composition. Leveraging Chicago's vibrant jazz community, our faculty consists of renowned performers, educators, composers, and arrangers. Beyond core jazz instruction including private lessons, ensembles, and combos, MM candidates take classes in jazz theory, history, teaching methods, improvisation, and composition/arranging. Students regularly record their work in professional studio settings throughout the program. This Master of Music degree requires two years of study.
