The graduate choral conducting program equips students for professional conducting careers, whether in academic settings like universities or K-12 schools, prominent religious or community positions, or with professional musical groups. This specialized program offers personalized guidance through one-on-one conducting instruction, intimate seminar discussions, in-depth choral literature studies, and extensive practical conducting experience.
Participants perform in various ensembles, co-direct the Lab Choir, and provide support for the Concert Choir and Advanced Treble Choir when required. Madison also offers supplementary opportunities with religious institutions and local choral organizations. The program features two Teaching Assistantships and one Fellowship position, which rotate among participants.
