The Master of Music in Composition program provides individualized mentorship from DePaul's renowned faculty of practicing composers, alongside workshops featuring visiting composers and performers from Chicago and nationwide. Composition graduate students showcase their works at the DePaul Composers Forum, a quarterly student recital, with second-year students potentially having their pieces performed and recorded by the DePaul Chamber Orchestra. Additional performance opportunities exist through various DePaul ensembles such as Ensemble 20+ and the Contemporary Music Ensemble. The program offers two graduate assistantships and spans two years for completion.
