The Department of Teacher Education develops Urban Professional Multicultural Educators through a comprehensive curriculum combining coursework and hands-on field training. Our programs are tailored to equip aspiring educators with the necessary skills. Beyond meeting Illinois licensure standards, and consistent with our goal of cultivating globally-minded educators, candidates will fulfill requirements for an International Baccalaureate Teaching and Learning Certificate. This IB certification for both Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programs (DP) equips graduates to teach at IB-affiliated schools worldwide. The IB Teaching and Learning credential broadens career prospects for educators while enhancing their understanding of inquiry-based learning and professional reflection.
