The Department of Teacher Education develops Urban Professional Multicultural Educators through a comprehensive curriculum combining coursework and hands-on field training. Beyond meeting Illinois licensure standards, and consistent with our goal of fostering globally-minded educators, candidates will also fulfill requirements for an International Baccalaureate Teaching and Learning Certificate. This IB certification for the Middle Years Program (MYP) and Diploma Program (DP) equips graduates to teach at IB institutions worldwide. The IB Teaching and Learning Certification broadens career prospects for educators while enhancing their understanding of inquiry-based learning and reflective teaching practices.
