The Department of Mathematical Sciences provides instruction in both theoretical and practical mathematics to support diverse educational and professional aspirations. Students often join to gain essential mathematical foundations for success in fields like natural sciences, computer science, social sciences, and business. These learners may opt to complement their primary degree with a mathematics minor. Mathematics majors have the opportunity to undertake an in-depth independent research project through the thesis track, focusing on either theoretical or applied aspects of the discipline. This work is conducted with faculty supervision. A minimum of 4 credits must be earned across one or two terms before submitting the thesis. Prospective participants are highly advised to take MAT 390 in their junior year.
