The Environmental Studies BA program delivers an integrated education covering environmental issues through natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. This interdisciplinary approach enables students to engage with current and future environmental challenges, equipping them for roles in environmental management, eco-focused nonprofits, or for infusing environmental awareness into any profession, while also laying groundwork for advanced studies. The program emphasizes thorough examination of humanity's relationship with nature. Students can select between two specializations: a general track or a sustainability track, with the latter offering an urban sustainability option. Those pursuing the sustainability concentration will grasp sustainability as an evolving state shaped by interconnected physical, biological, economic, and social systems. The urban sustainability focus teaches principles and techniques from environmental economics, politics, ethics, design, and human geography applicable to preserving resources and social structures in cities, along with understanding sustainable systems for managing urban water, land, air, and infrastructure across various dimensions.
