The Journalism program offers curriculum tailored for the Associate in Arts in Journalism for Transfer degree, delivering fundamental knowledge of the field, diverse course offerings, and preparation for transfer to any California State University accepting the Transfer Model Curriculum (TMC). Career opportunities encompass roles such as reporter, digital content creator, editorial positions, author, layout specialist, proofreader, social media manager, content developer, newsletter coordinator, PR professional, media relations specialist, sports journalist, and news photographer. This transfer degree is designed for students aiming to pursue a bachelor's in Journalism (or related field) at a CSU institution. While degree holders gain guaranteed admission to the CSU system, specific campuses or majors aren't assured. Transfer students to participating CSUs typically need no more than 60 semester units to complete their bachelor's. Note: This pathway may not suit students targeting specific CSU campuses or non-CSU institutions. Prospective students should always consult an academic counselor regarding university transfer and admission criteria.
