Dartmouth's Studio Art program provides students with an in-depth, focused study of visual arts creation. Students examine technical skills, perceptual awareness, and aesthetic principles within both historical and modern frameworks. The curriculum is designed to foster hands-on, interactive learning with various visual mediums. To complete the Studio Art major, students must take 10 courses. The department provides instruction in diverse areas including architecture, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. While Drawing I serves as a prerequisite for Painting I and advanced drawing/sculpture classes, no prior experience is required for introductory courses in drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, or special topics.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA. A strong GPA in high school is one indicator that you will continue to do well in college.
Most successful applicants score above 100 on the TOEFL exam or above 7 on IELTS.
