The Linguistics Department provides undergraduate programs including a Linguistics Major, Computational Linguistics Major, and Linguistics Minor. Students have the option to combine linguistics with another major or integrate another field into their linguistics studies. Prospective linguistics students are encouraged to meet with a department faculty member early to design a customized academic path. The department features two distinct majors (Linguistics and Computational Linguistics) along with a Linguistics Minor. While the Linguistics Major can be paired with another discipline, the Computational Linguistics Major cannot. Due to its interdisciplinary nature blending linguistics and computer science, students cannot pursue both Linguistics and Computational Linguistics majors simultaneously, and no Computational Linguistics minor is available.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA. A strong GPA in high school is one indicator that you will continue to do well in college.
Most successful applicants score above 100 on the TOEFL exam or above 7 on IELTS.
