Established in 1894, the History Department has consistently provided one of the most sought-after majors and most diverse course offerings in the undergraduate College. Today's world remains incomprehensible without examining how societies functioned throughout history. The currents of history have shaped every facet of modern life, from political boundaries to migration trends, technological advancements, and environmental crises. History reveals that our current circumstances aren't predetermined - they result from previous generations' decisions, chance events, and struggles. While the past profoundly influences our present, this understanding empowers us to drive transformation; only by exploring and comprehending our origins can we forge new pathways forward. Historical study cultivates exceptional writing abilities, analytical prowess, and most importantly, critical interpretation and reasoning skills. Specifically, history trains you to meticulously evaluate various information sources. Consequently, history serves as exceptional preparation for numerous professions: our graduates excel in diverse fields including legal practice, media, banking, academia, and activism.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA. A strong GPA in high school is one indicator that you will continue to do well in college.
Most successful applicants score above 100 on the TOEFL exam or above 7 on IELTS.
