The M.S. and Ph.D. programs focus on research, with both requiring a thesis or dissertation. Typically, students should complete an M.S. or equivalent before joining the Ph.D. program. The Natural Resources Field allows flexibility to tailor graduate studies to each student's interests, with access to outstanding lab and field resources. Numerous graduate students engage in international research projects. This highly personalized, interdisciplinary program involves close collaboration with faculty advisors to determine coursework and research objectives. Admission requires a faculty member's commitment to mentor an applicant, making early communication with potential advisors crucial during applications.
The Graduate Field of Natural Resources provides advanced education for MS and PhD degrees. We feature two research-based options: the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. Additionally, students may enroll in a combined MS/PhD track to earn both degrees sequentially. These programs emphasize original research, graduate-level coursework, and the submission of either a thesis (MS) or dissertation (PhD).
