The two-year Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate (M.P.S./R.E.) program integrates coursework from multiple Cornell colleges, offering an interdisciplinary approach. Tailored for early-career professionals, this degree is overseen by a faculty committee from various disciplines that shapes and manages the real estate curriculum. The program explores diverse facets of real estate, including finance, development, management, marketing, and more, while emphasizing the broader economic, social, political, ethical, legal, and environmental impacts of real estate decisions.
To graduate, students complete 62 credits that build a robust foundation for a real estate career. The curriculum includes core courses covering real estate principles, development processes, finance, investments, managerial finance, residential development, law, construction planning, design, marketing, and management, supplemented by weekly industry seminars. Students also select electives in specialized concentrations and fulfill leadership requirements. Numerous focus areas are available, drawing from Cornell's extensive course offerings (such as development, finance, sustainable practices, property management, market analysis, or international real estate). The program culminates with hands-on project workshops in the final semesters.
Applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree with a good academic record.
