The Environmental Processes faculty specialize in enhancing core scientific understanding and creating eco-friendly technologies to address humanity's pressing environmental issues, including energy/resource shortages and global warming. We educate students to master interdisciplinary methods and adopt greener strategies for minimizing harmful ecological and health effects caused by chemical and biological pollutants. Our researchers—both experimental and computational—investigate transformations in Earth's systems and elemental cycles, the behavior of new chemical and microbial contaminants, spatial population dynamics in ecological evolution, and resource extraction from waste materials. As pioneers in technology, we design advanced monitoring systems, sustainable purification and recycling methods to safeguard community health from hazardous substances, and novel techniques for generating renewable energy sources.
