Accounting research investigates how accounting data influences organizations and financial markets. At Cornell and comparable institutions, most accounting studies concentrate on corporate financial reporting, investor interpretation of data, impacts on market prices and trading activity, applications in corporate governance and compensation systems, and audit processes. Johnson School's accounting faculty and PhD candidates actively participate in research through both the Parker Center and Business Simulation Laboratory.
