Our graduate curriculum encompasses all linguistic disciplines, along with an extensive selection of courses in computational linguistics, field research techniques, and language evolution studies. All graduate candidates pursue doctoral degrees. Research Resources: Our department provides cutting-edge phonetic research equipment, featuring articulation tracking systems, ultrasound technology, electroglottography devices, and speech airflow measurement tools. The phonetics laboratory operates under the Cornell Speech Imaging Group (SIG), an interdisciplinary research collective employing real-time MRI technology to investigate speech production mechanics. Additionally, we maintain a Computational Linguistics Laboratory specializing in statistical analysis of large datasets, encompassing grammatical modeling, parameter optimization, and corpus-based lexical acquisition. The Language Documentation Center offers specialized workspace and resources for linguistic preservation projects, particularly focusing on lesser-documented languages.
