The Cornell University Biomedical and Biological Sciences (BBS) Graduate Program is an interdisciplinary initiative featuring exceptional graduate students who collaborate with distinguished faculty and research professionals on cutting-edge basic, clinical, and translational life sciences projects. Located at the core of biomedical research on Cornell's Ithaca campus within the College of Veterinary Medicine, the BBS program benefits from top-tier research facilities, a dynamic undergraduate environment, and close connections with Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. This program cultivates a supportive, student-focused academic community dedicated to helping graduate students excel in research, teaching, and career growth. BBS students choose Special Committee advisors from five focus areas: Immunology and Infectious Disease, Molecular and Cellular Medicine, Population Medicine and Epidemiology, Translational Medicine, and Zoology and Wildlife Conservation.
The Molecular and Cellular Medicine concentration involves faculty and students exploring essential cellular functions and their regulatory mechanisms in both healthy and diseased states. Studies span from molecular dynamics, protein structure, and membrane physics to organ system development and whole-organism functionality. By employing advanced technologies, Cornell researchers conduct foundational investigations that drive progress in diverse scientific fields including cell and developmental biology, genetics and genomics, neuroscience, pharmacology, and physiology.
