Neuroscience faculty explore the neurophysiological, social, and evolutionary foundations of cognition and behavior in humans and animals. Our research adopts a comparative perspective across species and organizational levels, from cellular networks to complex natural behaviors. Key questions include: How do neural circuits encode information, manage resources, and produce behavior? What roles do social, developmental, and environmental factors play in shaping cognition, emotions, and their biological underpinnings? How do brains process, store, and combine experiences to guide adaptive behaviors?
