Plant Sciences explores the growth, reproduction, evolution, and adaptation of plants, along with their applications in food production, textiles, and decorative uses. Although Plant Sciences majors share a fundamental passion for plants, the wide range of courses and research options fosters diverse interests and professional trajectories. To earn a degree in Plant Sciences, students must fulfill college and program requirements, which involve roughly two years of foundational studies, specialized coursework in a chosen concentration, creating an ePortfolio, and participating in an experiential learning opportunity tied to the field. Essential courses in biology, chemistry, statistics, and plant biology should be prioritized early, and transfer students are advised to complete most of these before enrolling at Cornell.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
