The Bachelor of Science in Information Science (IS) enables students to explore how digital information is designed, structured, managed, implemented, and examined. This program, leading to a BS degree, is offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). The IS curriculum focuses on understanding information systems within societal frameworks while investigating how digital data is generated, formatted, organized, utilized, and evaluated. Information Science emphasizes technological systems and their applications, employing diverse interdisciplinary methods. Additionally, the department provides a distinct Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Systems, and Technology (ISST) for Engineering students, which varies significantly from the Information Science programs in A&S and CALS.
This specialization offers education and perspective on the moral, regulatory, and policy aspects of modern information technology. Drawing from current research and discussions in legal, policy, and social science fields, Ethics, Law and Policy (ELP) participants gain knowledge about crucial systems and organizations influencing technology development, and how these entities are evolving to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
