The Human Development major is available to students enrolled in the College of Human Ecology. Those pursuing this major will develop a comprehensive grasp of Psychological Science, establishing both theoretical and empirical knowledge in behavioral sciences while examining human development across social, cultural, biological, and cognitive dimensions throughout the lifespan. The program highlights applied research and community involvement related to health, wellness, social and environmental influences (such as schools and neighborhoods), and contextual decision-making (including legal environments). Undergraduates will acquire expertise in key factors shaping human behavior and the research techniques used to advance this understanding, while honing analytical reasoning abilities. Present undergraduate specializations cover Behavioral and Evolutionary Neuroscience, Perception, Cognition and Development, and Social/Personality Psychology. Upcoming focus areas will include Cognition, Development, Social and Personality Psychology, and Neuroscience.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
TOEFL - Score of 100 and above (Internet-based exam); 70 and above on the PTE Academic; IELTS - Score of 7.5.
