Biometry involves applying statistical, mathematical, computational, and other quantitative techniques to biological phenomena and research challenges. Statistics plays a vital role across scientific studies, encompassing research design, data collection methods, conducting experiments, analyzing results, and drawing conclusions. The curriculum teaches students to apply statistical, mathematical, and computational approaches to address issues in various disciplines, ranging from biological and social sciences to economics and financial sectors. Prospective students can begin the Biometry and Statistics program either as incoming first-years or through transfer admission. Those interested in this major should possess solid mathematical foundations. Transfer applicants currently in their first or second year at other colleges are advised to complete as many CALS general education requirements as feasible prior to transferring.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
