Atmospheric Science students explore weather and climate patterns while developing skills in analyzing, interpreting, and predicting meteorological phenomena. Beyond academic excellence, Cornell provides exceptional opportunities. Our meteorology club, the Cornell Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (CCAMS), welcomes all atmospheric science majors and any interested students. Numerous program participants have earned the American Meteorological Society's distinguished Father James B. Macelwane Award for exceptional undergraduate research in this field. Those pursuing advanced degrees will find excellent preparation through supplementary coursework in mathematics, physics, and atmospheric sciences beyond the core requirements. Students seeking a broader environmental education can also select courses from the distinct earth and atmospheric sciences major, which can be combined with the atmospheric sciences program. The
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
TOEFL - Score of 100 and above (Internet-based exam); 70 and above on the PTE Academic; IELTS - Score of 7.5.
