Our Agricultural Sciences program provides a versatile, cross-disciplinary major that equips students to address critical issues, whether enhancing family farms or entering fields like policy, education, research, or agribusiness. Situated at the heart of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, this major connects students with the full resources of a public-private research institution. CALS takes a personalized approach to agricultural education—no two students follow identical paths. While establishing a comprehensive agricultural foundation, the program encourages customization, enabling students to shape their coursework and pursue interests within and beyond agricultural sciences. Reflecting our students' diverse interests, this major offers specialized study tracks to deepen expertise, preparing graduates for careers demanding scientific and holistic knowledge of agriculture and food systems. Students must complete at least one 12-credit concentration from these five options: Animal Science, Business Management and Policy, Education and Society, Organic Agriculture, or Sustainable Cropping Systems Management.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
