Philosophy majors have access to diverse course offerings including epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy history, logic, ethics, social/political philosophy, Continental philosophy, philosophy of mind, language philosophy, aesthetics, and science philosophy. Each year brings opportunities to engage in various events, from casual reading circles and seminars to structured conferences and prominent guest lectures. The Sage School fosters intimate class settings and a collaborative environment that encourages dynamic philosophical discussions between undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, and visiting scholars. Annually, the department offers up to two research assistant positions for philosophy majors (one per semester). Eligible majors may apply to support faculty research initiatives, with project details posted on the department website when opportunities arise. These research assistant roles provide hourly compensation rather than academic credit.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
