The 30-credit Master of Science in Sociomedical Sciences equips students to utilize social science theories, concepts, and methodologies in public health practice and policy development. The curriculum includes studies in anthropology, ethics, history, psychology, and sociology, complemented by diverse public health subjects and research approaches. Learners can tailor their program to emphasize a specific academic discipline or create an interdisciplinary educational path.
This 30-credit program requires a master's thesis and can be finished through full-time enrollment (two semesters) or part-time study (three or more semesters). Ideal candidates include undergraduates preparing for social science doctoral programs, individuals seeking public health education without pursuing an MPH, experienced professionals in healthcare-related fields like nursing, medicine, health policy, bioethics, journalism, and law, as well as postdoctoral scholars looking to strengthen their analytical skills for public health policy formulation.
Applicants to our MPH, MS, PhD and DrPH will apply using SOPHAS. Letters of Recommendation - Applicants will need to submit letters of recommendation from three (3) individuals. Letters should address your academic and research abilities, including your capacity to work independently as well as your ability to comprehend, digest, and assimilate new knowledge. Statement of Purpose - submit a Statement of Purpose of no more than 500 words.
