The Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics provides a graduate program culminating in a Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. To earn the MS degree, students must successfully complete at least thirty (30) credit hours of approved graduate coursework spanning a minimum of two semesters. While an MS thesis isn't mandatory, students may pursue up to six (6) credit hours of independent research, which can serve as a thesis equivalent. The Forensic (Structural) Engineering specialization introduces graduate students and early-career professionals to forensic engineering principles, equipping them with fundamental skills for failure analysis, legal considerations, and preparation for careers in forensic structural engineering practice.
