Columbia University's MFA Writing Program is widely respected for its intensive literary training and distinguished faculty of accomplished authors and editors committed to teaching. The program celebrates artistic and literary diversity through its faculty, students, and curriculum. Participants are urged to trust their creative impulses and push beyond boundaries to fully develop their writing abilities. As part of the MFA program, Literary Translation at Columbia (LTAC) enables writing students to incorporate translation studies into their coursework. Rather than being a professional translation program, LTAC stems from the philosophy that engaging with literary translation enhances a writer's growth and creativity, just as strong writing skills are fundamental to translation. Each semester, LTAC provides workshops, seminars, and master classes available to all Writing Program students, with occasional openings for other graduate students when possible.
