The MFA playwriting program celebrates a wide spectrum of artistic perspectives and styles. Our distinguished faculty, featuring acclaimed winners of Tony, Pulitzer, and Obie Awards like Charles Mee, Lynn Nottage, and David Henry Hwang, demonstrates there are countless approaches to crafting exceptional theater. We're dedicated to nurturing each writer's distinctive creative identity while guiding their works to reach their fullest potential. With hands-on training from industry leaders such as Tony-winning composer Jeanine Tesori and legendary television creator Matt Williams, we equip students with comprehensive skills in all forms of dramatic writing - from stage plays to screenwriting and musical theater - ensuring strong career foundations.
Applicants should have the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree, and should understand idiomatic English and speak, write, and read English with a high degree of facility.
English Language Requirements
Applicant must have minimum TOEFL score of 100 on the online portion or 600 on the written portion.
