Columbia's Theatre MFA programs in Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Dramaturgy, Stage Management, and Theatre Management & Producing are designed for gifted individuals with the passion and dedication to excel as professional artists. At the School of the Arts, students collaborate with today's foremost theatre innovators - including creators, practitioners, producers, and scholars - receiving intensive training grounded in classical traditions while embracing contemporary experimentation. Columbia's MFA Theatre Program prepares artists to carry forward this vital cultural mission. Each MFA candidate specializes in one discipline: Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Dramaturgy, Stage Management, or Theatre Management & Producing. The structured curriculum combines core training in the chosen field with complementary electives, integrating classroom learning with hands-on production experience.
Applicant must have completed significant undergraduate or graduate work in the study of film or associated fields.
English Language Requirements
Applicant must have minimum TOEFL score of 100 on the online portion or 600 on the written portion.
