The Science Education program develops leaders for science education positions in secondary and higher education. We maintain that professional science educators need comprehensive training in their subject area while applying contemporary learning and education theories to their teaching practice and doctoral research. Our graduates have secured faculty positions at prominent universities as science professors or science education specialists. Numerous alumni have emerged as key figures in school administration and education transformation. In recent years, our efforts to improve urban science education and expand the theoretical foundations of science teaching have concentrated more specifically on incorporating neurocognitive approaches, multicultural perspectives, and learning theory-based advancements to inform both instruction and research.
In order to be eligible for admission, international applicants must hold, or be in the process of obtaining, the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree.
